About the Founder
Dr. Nelly Seo
M.A., Psy. D.
What drew me to somatic psychology was a simple observation: the body rarely makes it into the therapy room, despite being the home in which we live every day. Holistic care, to me, requires its inclusion.
What I love most about this work is witnessing the body become a genuine resource— a place where safety is possible rather than just tension. When that shift happens, it changes everything: how a person knows themselves, how they relate to others, how they move through the world.
My approach combines relational and psychodynamic therapy with Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems work. Together, we’ll explore your history, patterns, relationships, and the ways they live in your body—not just your mind.
“Movement has been a constant in my life, and through it, I came to understand the body as a place of wisdom long before I entered this field.”
What is Somatic Therapy?
What is Somatic Therapy?
SomaSelf is built on a simple idea: the self includes the body, and we heal in connection. Somatic, relational therapy works with both, so change happens not just in how you think, but in how you feel in your own skin and with the people around you.
The intersection of somatics, psychology, and lived experience — drawing on the questions and reflections that arise from my work as a clinician.
This blog is written for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of how the mind-body connection shapes our experience of challenge and change, and what becomes possible when we begin to work with it rather than around it.
Part of Dr. Nelly’s commitment to this work is making it accessible beyond the therapy room. This blog is an extension of that value.
